Meet the team
Our mission is to help people quickly and easily develop the skills they need to be successful at work.
Jhana develops the best content in the world and gives it to you in a format built for speed, and in language used by actual humans (no corporate jargon allowed). We have a dedicated team that includes former McKinsey consultants, successful entrepreneurs and business veterans who are really into learning.
Rob Cahill, Co-Founder. Rob was previously at Sunrun as Chief of Staff to the founder, helping the company scale from 20 to more than 200 employees. Previously, he was a Consultant at McKinsey & Company focused on operations and strategy, including working on education strategy with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Rob was one of the founding team members and three-year captain of Revolver Ultimate, the men’s Ultimate Frisbee team that has won two World Championships and two National Championships. He earned an MS in Management Science and a BA in Economics with Honors from Stanford University. Rob believes there is a learning revolution underway and wants to make it easier than ever to learn at work.
John Howard, Co-Founder. John was previously co-founder and CEO of Duron Energy, an Idealab company, which he grew to be one of the leading rural home solar companies in India. Earlier, he worked at McKinsey & Company focused on international development and high tech strategy in the US, EU, Asia and Middle East, and he also worked at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory focused on Mars mission planning. John earned a BS in both Mechanical Engineering and Economics at Caltech, and was President of the Caltech Entrepreneur’s Club. He enjoys travel, reading, piano, biking, tennis and learning new things.
Callie O’Brien, Account Executive. Callie was previously an Elite Sales Account Executive at Yelp.com, in which she was ranked top 10% of the sales organization. There she helped launched multiple new products, mentored young sales reps, and was a key player in helping expand Yelp’s footprint within/outside of the United States. Aside from being awesome, our Midwestern born (yep.. she’s from “the lou” aka St. Louis, MO) Customer Success Manager has a passion for helping others reach their full potential. Having seen the unique challenges employees can face at fast growing companies, she’s made it a personal mission to help other young employees learn & develop soft professional skills. She believed these skills can improve life both in and outside of work. When she’s not at Jhana, you may be able to catch her logging miles for her next half marathon, sipping Philz Coffee blogging away, or planning her next creative escape to a far away land like Greece.
Heidi Basarab, Senior Writer and Researcher. Heidi has more than 10 years of experience as a writer/editor. She previously worked at Public Advocates Inc., a public interest law firm that fights for social justice, and the American Humane Association, a national nonprofit that protects children and animals from abuse and neglect. Heidi’s background also includes time in the for-profit sector, where she focused on improving websites, marketing collateral, reports and other communication materials for leading government outsourcing and financial services companies. She holds a B.A. in English from Simmons College and an M.F.A. in creative writing from Colorado State University, where she also taught introductory composition and tutored ESL students. The product of a family of teachers, Heidi is happiest when she’s learning or helping others. In addition to obsessing over Jhana’s content, she enjoys practicing the piano, reading incomprehensible poetry and telling people everything they never wanted to know about grammar.
Jordan Jeffery, Analyst. Jordan has been heavily focused on learning since he was a child, having to learn how to outwit the harsh winters of his hometown of Barrow, Alaska, the northernmost community in the U.S. Jordan is a graduate of Stanford University with an M.A. in Sociology and a B.A. in Science, Technology and Society. While at Stanford, Jordan was very involved with the club sports program and captained the Men’s Ultimate Frisbee Team to a 5th place finish in the nation. His master’s work focused on economic inequality and alternative systems for closing the educational achievement gap in the U.S. In his spare time Jordan can be found playing competitive Ultimate Frisbee and spending his summers back in Alaska as a commercial salmon fishing captain. Jordan believes that learning is the key to unlocking individual potential, and hopes to play a part in unlocking learning tools for people everywhere, regardless of wealth, class, or geographic barriers.
Annemarie Estess, Customer Success Manager. Annemarie joined Jhana with a key goal in mind: to help individuals and organizations realize their full potential. She brings a zesty blend of entrepreneurial and educational experience to the team, having founded a dance instruction business in the Bay Area to boost adults' confidence on the dance floor. Prior to this venture, she served as an Admission Counselor for Stanford University -- a role that allowed her to represent her alma mater to fellow alumni, education professionals, students, and families, and to evaluate applicants' candidacy for admission. She earned a B.A. in Human Biology and M.A. in Sociology and continues to serve Stanford as an academic advisor and lecturer. Balance and adventure are high priorities for this native Santa Cruzian, which she fulfills by dancing, jamming on her guitar, surfing, and rock climbing.
Shondip Ghosh, Product support. Shondip’s background is as an entrepreneur and leader. Shondip was previously co-founder and CEO of Banyan Energy, a solar power company pioneering a breakthrough optics technology for solar panels. He has a BA in Physics from Harvard University, an MBA from UC Berkeley, and has authored three US patents. Shondip holds four national championships in squash in India and the US and has captained teams at the national and international level. Always a student, he is fundamentally optimistic about the human capacity to learn well beyond what our current education system enables, and is determined to help make that happen!
